Samsung Electronics Considers Shifting Memory Chip Contract Model Toward Multi-Year Agreements

Mars Finance News, March 18 — According to Bloomberg, Samsung Electronics is considering shifting its memory chip contract model to multi-year agreements, with a much longer duration than current practices, to help stabilize supply and ease market concerns over key component shortages. Samsung Electronics Co-CEO Jun Young-hyun stated at the annual shareholders’ meeting that the company is considering extending existing contracts, which are currently signed quarterly or annually, to a maximum of three to five years. He noted that with AI memory chip demand expected to continue surging through 2026, this adjustment is of significant importance.
