On the morning of March 17, the market surged then pulled back. The three major A-share indices showed mixed performance, with the Shanghai Composite Index down slightly by 0.04%. The total market half-day trading volume was nearly 1.4 trillion yuan. In terms of sectors and themes, insurance, securities firms, real estate developers, steel, and banks led the gains, while communication equipment, agriculture, oil and natural gas, and chemical sectors declined. The Hong Kong stock market continued its upward trend, with securities firms leading the gains, and pharmaceutical and technology stocks rising collectively.
By midday, the CSI A500 Index increased by 0.04%, the CSI 300 Index rose by 0.3%, the ChiNext Index fell by 0.6%, the STAR Market 50 Index declined by 0.5%, and the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index increased by 0.9%.
