Health, Local Development Ministries Sign Cooperation Protocol To Improve Population Indicators

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population and Ministry of Local Development have signed a cooperation protocol to implement the National Population and Development Strategy 2030, aimed at balancing population growth with economic development and improving living standards for Egyptian families.

The agreement was witnessed by Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, and Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Environment.

The protocol was signed by Abla Al-Alfi, Deputy Minister of Health for Population and Family Development, and Hossam El-Qawish, Assistant Minister for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Local Development.

Abdel Ghaffar said the agreement aims to strengthen coordination between ministries, governorates and local administrative units to support the implementation of national population policies and improve the quality of public services.

He added that the strategy seeks to reduce Egypt’s fertility rate to 2.1 children per woman by 2027, supporting balanced population growth and sustainable economic development.

The protocol also includes training programmes for local government employees on population policies, in addition to forming joint expert teams to conduct research and develop implementation plans.

For her part, Awad said the agreement represents an important step towards strengthening institutional coordination to improve population indicators and quality of life, stressing the importance of cooperation between national and local authorities to achieve tangible results.

Both ministries said they will continue joint efforts through training programmes and coordinated action plans in support of Egypt’s sustainable development objectives.
