CNN: U.S. Government Senior Officials Did Not Anticipate Iran Would Block the Strait of Hormuz

Mars Finance News, March 13 — According to CNN, multiple sources familiar with the matter revealed that during the planning of the current operation, the U.S. Pentagon and National Security Council seriously underestimated Iran’s potential to close the Strait of Hormuz in response to U.S. military strikes. The sources said that Trump’s national security team failed to fully consider the possible consequences of the worst-case scenario. Three individuals familiar with the closed-door meeting stated that during a recent classified briefing, senior officials in the Trump administration admitted to lawmakers that they had not anticipated Iran would close the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for an attack.
