Your goal as a trader isn’t to battle with the mind, its to witness the mind.


You may have heard people tell you,
“You need to act like a robot.”
“You need to eliminate all emotions from trading.”
We are humans, we literally cannot remove emotion it is how we are designed by nature.
We should aim to not fight our emotions.
Don’t battle with the mind.
The true goal is to become aware of them.
To witness them in real time coming up.
It is only once we are aware of what triggers certain emotions, we can step in front of any negative behaviors that emotion may induce.
Trigger -> Emotion -> Behavior
For example, you take a loss which triggers you to feel the emotion of anger and pain which then causes you to perform the behavior of over risking on the next trade.
How to fix this? Journal and track every time you make an emotion based error.
There will always be a trigger behind it.
You can even see your body be an indicator that you are soon to commit a trading error.
For example you start sweating, tapping desk, pulling hair, fidgeting around. All these are signals you are operating out of emotion and aren’t aware of it.
Become aware
because once u notice you’re doing these things
you can stop yourself before the behavior occurs.
Just journal.
