President Trump delivered the State of the Union address to Congress on the 24th, when Democratic Representative Al Green of Texas was escorted out for protesting. Live television footage showed Green holding up a banner that read “Black Lives Matter” as Trump began his speech. Green was immediately removed from the chamber. On the 5th, Trump’s social media account posted a video clip involving former President Obama and his wife Michelle, which included images of two primates with faces edited to resemble Obama and Michelle. The video sparked widespread outrage and condemnation. The White House deleted the video on the 6th. (Xinhua)
