【AAPL】Apple launches affordable MacBook Neo starting at 4799 yuan, available in four colors, equipped with iPhone A18 Pro chip, capturing the student market and challenging Windows PCs and Chromebooks
Apple Inc. (US: AAPL) has launched the affordable entry-level MacBook Neo starting at 4,799 yuan, entering the budget laptop market. The price is significantly lower than the current starting price of 8,999 yuan for the MacBook Air, making it attractive to students and mainstream consumers alike, competing with Windows PCs and Chromebooks for budget-conscious buyers. The MacBook Neo is available for pre-order on Wednesday and will be in stores on March 11.

The MacBook Neo comes in four colors: citrus yellow, silver, indigo, and peach pink. It features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display, making it one of Apple’s smallest laptops to date. It is powered by the iPhone A18 Pro chip, marking Apple’s first use of a smartphone processor in a Mac computer. It includes Apple Intelligence and offers up to 16 hours of battery life.
The base model has 256GB of storage, priced at 5,499 yuan, with an upgraded version offering 512GB of storage and Touch ID.
This launch marks a significant shift for Apple, which has long been reluctant to release low-end Mac laptops. However, with the speed improvements of the iPhone processor, Apple can significantly lower prices without substantially sacrificing performance.
