Fraudulent Ticket Scam Involving the Louvre and Versailles Palace: A Major French Fraud Network Dismantled

According to the Paris Prosecutor’s Office on December 12, a large-scale scam network involving ticketing systems for the Louvre Museum and Versailles Palace was dismantled earlier this week. Nine people were arrested, including two museum staff members, several tour guides, and one person suspected of organizing the network. The scam involved selling fake tickets and overbooking guided tours, with victims including the Louvre Museum and Versailles Palace. The losses for the Louvre alone amounted to over 10 million euros. According to the Paris Prosecutor’s Office, more than 957,000 euros in cash were seized (including 67,000 euros in foreign currency), along with 486,000 euros scattered across multiple bank accounts. A police source also stated that three vehicles and several bank safes were confiscated.
