This young tech enthusiast turned $27 into a huge fortune by buying Bitcoin for educational purposes.
Back then, in 2009, Bitcoin was worth cents.
To be exact, $0.0054 per Bitcoin.
Kristoffer Koch bought 5,000 Bitcoins after discovering Crypto while researching and studying encryption.
At the time of purchase, he didn't expect much; it was just a purchase based on his research.
He was simply someone who liked to buy random tech gadgets he never used, although his girlfriend thought it was a waste of money.
After buying them, he practically forgot they existed, and years went by.
In 2013, Bitcoin started appearing in all the news as prices began to skyrocket.
That’s when he suddenly remembered the purchase and thought, "Did I buy something like that?"
He searched through old files, tried to recall his wallet password, and managed to log in.
Those forgotten $27 are now worth $886,000 (2013), most of which he sold and used to buy a luxury apartment in Oslo.
If he had held onto the 5,000 BTC until today, they would be worth around $334 million.
