Beijing Vice Mayor Xia Linmao: The economy of Beijing Plain New City has reached a scale of one trillion yuan

The State Council Information Office held a press conference today regarding the “Modern Capital Urban Area Spatial Coordination Plan (2023–2035).” At the event, Xia Linmao, a member of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Executive Vice Mayor, stated that the economic output of Beijing Pingyuan New City has already reached one trillion yuan. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Beijing will implement the plan by continuously enhancing the comprehensive carrying capacity of Pingyuan New City, focusing on six main areas:

1. Building Beijing (Jing-Jin-Ji) International Science and Technology Innovation Center, promoting the construction of over 50 national key laboratories, and accelerating the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements.
2. Fully leveraging the driving role of three trillion-yuan industry clusters—new-generation information technology, healthcare, and science and technology services—linking with Tianjin Wuqing, Hebei Langfang, Zhuozhou, and Laishui to continuously improve the development level of regional industry clusters.
3. Improving the comprehensive transportation network and ensuring seamless cross-border transportation connections.
4. Accelerating the construction of suburban parks around the Jing-Jin-Ji Beautiful China Pilot Zone, creating more green and vibrant spaces with clear mountains and waters.
5. Continuously meeting people’s livelihood needs by building more quality housing and accelerating the deployment of high-quality public services such as education, healthcare, elderly care, and childcare.
6. Enhancing the resilience of cross-regional disaster risk response and the connectivity of lifelines across Jing-Jin-Ji, jointly strengthening responses to natural disasters like floods and droughts.
