Hong Kong Stock Market Movement | Maoyan Entertainment(01896) fell over 6%, hitting a nine-month low. This year's Spring Festival box office is relatively weak.
CITIC Finance APP reports that Maoyan Entertainment (01896) dropped over 6%, reaching HKD 6.33, a new low since May last year. As of press time, it fell 6.13% to HKD 6.43, with a trading volume of HKD 74.4284 million.
On the news front, according to the National Film Administration, as of 9 a.m. on February 24, the box office for the 2026 Spring Festival holiday reached 5.752 billion yuan, with 120 million moviegoers. GF Securities states that this year’s box office revenue is not very strong compared to previous years; in 2019, and from 2021 to 2025, the Spring Festival box office was 5.83 billion, 7.78 billion, 6.05 billion, 6.76 billion, 8.15 billion, and 9.51 billion yuan respectively. Galaxy Securities believes that the Spring Festival box office is relatively weak, below the levels of recent years, with a clear downward trend. The combined share of third- to fifth-tier cities exceeds 60%, reflecting that residents’ entertainment spending is increasingly focused on cost-effectiveness and content appeal, and more time during the holiday may be diverted to travel and offline activities.
