Tesla Semi Electric Heavy Truck Production Version Specifications Announced: Starting at 523 km of range, mass production expected in the first half of the year
IT House, February 9 — Tesla has quietly updated the official webpage for the Semi electric heavy-duty truck in the United States, revealing the final specifications for the production version. The vehicle will be offered in standard and long-range versions, with mass production expected to begin in the first half of this year.
According to information from IT House, the standard-range version can achieve a range of approximately 523 kilometers (325 miles) when fully loaded with a combined weight of about 37 tons. The vehicle’s curb weight is less than 9 tons, and its energy consumption is approximately 1.06 kWh per kilometer. The truck features three independent motors on the rear axle, with a combined drive power of 800 kW. It supports MCS 3.2 standard charging, allowing the battery to be charged from low to 60% in 30 minutes, and offers up to 25 kW of electric power take-off (ePTO).
The long-range version extends the range to 805 kilometers (500 miles), with a curb weight of approximately 10.4 tons. Its powertrain configuration is the same as the standard version, utilizing three motors on the rear axle and 800 kW of drive power. This version supports peak charging power of up to 1.2 MW, also compatible with MCS 3.2 charging standards, and can be charged to 60% in 30 minutes. The ePTO output capacity remains at a maximum of 25 kW. Tesla also emphasizes that both models are designed with autonomous driving in mind.
In comparison, when Tesla first announced the Semi in 2017, it promised two range options: 300 miles (approximately 482.8 km) and 500 miles (about 804.7 km), with starting prices of $150,000 (roughly 1.042 million RMB at current exchange rates) and $180,000 (about 1.25 million RMB), respectively.
Today, the series offers a starting range of 325 miles (523 km), surpassing the initial specifications. However, the official latest pricing for the series has not yet been announced, though some customers have reported that “the price of the Semi has increased significantly.”
