Salesforce’s 2026 MuleSoft Connectivity Benchmark Report highlights a rapid proliferation of AI agents in enterprises, with 83% of organizations using them in most or all teams and a projected 67% growth by 2027. However, this boom has led to “agent sprawl” where over half of agents operate in disconnected silos and only 54% of enterprises have a centralized governance framework, exemplified by Alcon’s creation of 900 ungoverned agents.
