On the news front, U.S. President Trump signed an executive order declaring a national emergency and establishing a procedure to impose tariffs on goods from countries that sell or otherwise provide oil to Cuba.
Regarding Iran, according to Xinhua News Agency, the Iranian presidential office issued a statement on the 29th saying that President Raisi stated that if the U.S. seeks negotiations with genuine diplomacy, it must stop provocative and tense actions. Raisi also had phone calls with Qatari Emir Tamim and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz on the same day, exchanging views on the regional tensions caused by U.S. destabilizing actions. He expressed gratitude to Qatar and Pakistan for their support and hoped for further strengthening and deepening of unity and cooperation among Islamic countries.
On tariffs, U.S. President Trump stated on social media that, due to Canada's errors, illegality, and persistent refusal to certify Gulfstream jets, he is canceling the certification of Bombardier Global Express aircraft and all Canadian-made aircraft until Gulfstream receives full certification, which should have been completed years ago.
Furthermore, Canada has effectively banned Gulfstream products from being sold in Canada through the same certification process. If the issue is not immediately rectified, the U.S. will impose a 50% tariff on all Canadian-made aircraft exported to the U.S.
