I've seen through this trick a long time ago. Airdrop distribution is basically just a variation of harvesting retail investors. No matter how loudly those YouTube creators hype it up, retail investors who get in are just destined to be harvested. The math is right there...

According to the tokenomics model in the white paper, this ICO-first and airdrop distribution mechanism was actually mentioned by Vitalik Gaverin in a paper — incentives are incompatible, just two sides of the same coin.
