What's the real process behind a blockchain rollback? When network issues force a reorg, does it actually affect all transactions retroactively, including fund transfers that already settled? Honestly asking because the mechanics seem wildly complex in practice.
If rollbacks do touch everything, that's pretty rough for anyone with skin in the game. The whole premise of immutability gets questioned real quick. Not exactly the vibe we signed up for in crypto.

Rollback is essentially about betting on the stability of the chain. If it really gets triggered and can roll back your funds... then what’s the point of Web3 autonomy?

To be honest, that's why I always stay cautious about on-chain data. Reorgs can really throw you off...

Wait, can reorg really roll back already settled transfers? Doesn't that put my previous transactions at risk...

That's not right. Will rollback really revert confirmed transactions? Then my previous transactions would be in jeopardy...

Huh, isn't this the incident with Ethereum? They directly rolled back a bunch of transactions.
I actually don't quite understand it either, but it feels like the whole immutability thing is just a joke.
The deeper the reorg, the more uncomfortable it gets. Who will compensate my money?
