Where is the problem? Every time there is an update to the Sui underlying layer, Walrus has to undergo modifications. It's not just a simple parameter tweak but a complete re-architecture. Coupled with Walrus's unique toolchain and interfaces, supporting other virtual machines in the future? The cost skyrockets.
Worse still, the core team’s mindset may already be constrained by the existing architecture. Staying too long within this paradigm makes it difficult to suddenly jump out and pursue fundamental innovation.
Technical debt never disappears; it only shifts, accumulates, and compounds. At some point—such as when a major upgrade is necessary—these hidden risks may erupt all at once, dragging down the entire protocol’s iteration speed or even triggering systemic risks.

ngl this is exactly the mining trap i fell into back in the day... locked into one chain, one hardware setup, and suddenly ASIC boom made everything obsolete. walrus basically did the same thing but with code lmao. now they're stuck paying compound interest on shortcuts that looked smart in 2023.
