I am a Meituan and Ctrip Black Diamond member, but to be honest, the service levels of these two platforms' memberships are almost incomparable. It's no longer a matter of good or bad but simply not at the same level.
Ctrip Black Diamond: 12 airport VIP lounge accesses per year, unlimited fast security checks at airports, 12 in-flight WiFi sessions, one concert benefit, one free hotel stay in a city, 180 days of Haidilao Black Sea membership, and occasional high-end Black Diamond exclusive events. Points can be used to offset cash in a single transaction, allowing thousands of yuan worth of hotels to be settled at zero cost. This is a comprehensive set of high-frequency, truly usable benefits.
Meituan Black Diamond: Only 2 VIP lounge accesses at airports, and the rest mainly consist of vouchers that are difficult to use in real life. Although there are 28 benefits listed, less than 5% of the scenarios are applicable, making the presence feel very low.
What truly widens the gap between the two is not the number of benefits but the service approach.
Ctrip Black Diamond customer service operates 24/7 with a dedicated concierge system. Regardless of whether the order was made on Ctrip or even if I personally made it, as long as I contact this concierge, the issue is generally taken over and handled. You don’t need to repeatedly explain the background or chase progress. The process is highly reliable and very fast.
On the Meituan side: problem resolution mainly relies on phone customer service. Often, we prefer to mute the phone, so calls are missed. The efficiency and completion rate of online channels are relatively average, still stuck at the platform customer service stage rather than a member concierge level.
The experience these two Black Diamonds offer is no longer just a slight difference; they are truly not in the same league.
