Who hasn't fallen for the tricks of centralized cloud storage? Just shut down at will, links expire overnight, and important data instantly becomes orphaned files. This kind of "digital rental" experience is truly frustrating.

Recently, I discovered a different approach in the Sui ecosystem—Walrus Protocol. This is not just a simple file storage solution but a built-in programmable data layer. Its strength lies in completely decoupling storage logic from access rules, allowing flexible assembly like building with LEGO.

How is it so flexible? For example, you can customize access policies like: "An AI model, Wallet A, enjoys a free inference quota of 10 times; Wallet B, each inference deducts 1 USDC; this rule automatically expires after 30 days." Once the rules are on-chain, they are executed automatically, requiring no third-party intervention.

On the technical side, they use the Seal component for privacy protection and the Quilt component to improve file operation efficiency. Many projects are already running, including gaming and advertising platforms with daily active users in the tens of millions. This is what developers can truly use as a foundational infrastructure—the on-chain data economy finally has a solid basic module.

Centralized cloud storage is indeed disgusting, but Walrus this thing... Can it really be implemented? It feels like another project where the concept outweighs the practicality. Speaking of which, on-chain automatic rule execution is indeed innovative, but will a game with tens of millions of daily active users really adopt it? I’d like to see some actual case studies. Sui’s ecosystem is really working hard on building things, unlike some L1s that only talk about stories every day. Is this the true programmable data layer? The Lego analogy is quite good, but I wonder how high the learning curve is for ordinary developers. With higher storage freedom, can privacy really be guaranteed? It always feels like old wine in new bottles. If this kind of thing really becomes widespread, the days of centralized cloud storage will be tough, but I bet I’ll have to wait two more years. Walrus sounds like a name chosen by a tech guy, haha... But the mechanism design is indeed thoughtful.

Centralized cloud storage indeed drags down the system; they cut it off at will, and I've been betrayed by my files before. Walrus's setup looks pretty good, and the idea of a programmable data layer is truly innovative, but I'm not sure how reliable it will be in actual operation.

Cloud storage frequently shutting down, this trick is indeed disgusting. However, the idea of Walrus as a programmable data layer feels quite interesting, with rules automatically executing without third-party intervention... If it truly runs stably, it would indeed be a liberation for developers.

At 2 a.m., I discovered a new idea again... The design of Walrus, this programmable data layer, indeed hits the pain point of centralized storage, especially the automatic execution logic of the access policy... Even games with tens of millions of daily active users are using it, which indicates that the liquidity depth already has a foundation.

The centralized cloud storage system is truly incredible; it’s gone just like that, and I almost lost my thesis materials... The Walrus concept is indeed innovative, and a programmable data layer sounds much more comfortable. Wait, can we really trust these automated rules? What if they get hacked?

Ha, I've long been fed up with this. Walrus's approach is indeed innovative, and a programmable data layer sounds really appealing. This guy's automated execution rules are truly awesome. No need to worry about centralized platform's attitude anymore, and finally, you can have control over your data.
