"Position Thinking" in Trading

Many people lose money not because they are wrong about the direction, but because they lock in the outcome as soon as they take a position. As soon as the market moves slightly against them, their mindset collapses, their plan fails immediately, and in the end, they either have a distorted stop-loss or hold on stubbornly until liquidation.

Mature traders first consider "How much can I lose at most," rather than "How much can I make." Position size is not used to amplify desire; it is used to control risk. When the position is right, you can survive one wrong direction; when the position is wrong, even a correct direction can lead to a crash.

A practical principle:
When uncertain, trade with a small position to test;
When the structure is clear, gradually increase the position;
When the market is favorable, protect profits;
When the market is uncooperative, decisively reduce the position.

Follow the certainty of the market with your position,
rather than following emotions.

Trading is not a game of all-in bets, but a long-term contest. What you need is a long-term upward curve, not just a few exciting surges. Treat your position as a brake, not an accelerator, and you'll find yourself suddenly "steady." When you learn to manage uncertainty with position sizing, trading ceases to be tormenting and becomes controllable. Keep your position stable, and opportunities will naturally come.
