Renowned investor Michael Burry's recent views remain focused on two topics: the AI market bubble and the financial practices of tech companies.

His core judgment is straightforward—the current AI craze is reminiscent of the internet bubble in 2000, and the market has fallen into excessive euphoria. But what’s truly explosive is his skepticism towards the financial statements of tech giants.

Burry accuses Meta, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Oracle, and other cloud service providers of manipulating depreciation treatments. Specifically, AI chips and servers with an actual lifespan of only 2 to 3 years are being depreciated over 6 years in these companies’ financial reports. On the surface, this reduces costs and beautifies profits, but according to his calculations, from 2026 to 2028, the entire industry could understate depreciation by a total of $176 billion due to this practice.

The figures are even more alarming: based on Burry’s estimates, by 2028, Oracle’s profits could be overstated by 26.9%, and Meta’s by as much as 20.8%.

Regarding Tesla, his stance is clear—he considers it an excessively overhyped company. However, he also admits that shorting Tesla is too risky, so he does not hold a short position on Tesla himself.

In terms of holdings, his fund, Scion Asset Management, has disclosed large put options on Nvidia and Palantir through SEC Form 13F. All these positions point in the same direction—he believes there are significant risks in tech stock valuations.

These comments have sparked discussions in the investment community. Some believe he has touched on the market’s pain points, while others think he is just hyping his short positions. Regardless, in the current AI boom sweeping the market, such skepticism about the authenticity of corporate financials is worth paying attention to.

Depreciating this set of operations is just outrageous, directly extending the chip lifespan from 2-3 years to 6 years. Isn't that an accounting loophole? From the perspective of on-chain auditing, permissions control can be played like this... A black hole of $176 billion, how large must the integer overflow be to hide it? Do they really think auditing doesn't exist? Honestly, it's because formal verification hasn't kept up; the contractual code in financial reports should have been security-checked long ago. Burry really hit the nail on the head this time; operations that artificially inflate profits need to be fixed. The question is, who will audit these tech giants? We need to find a reliable one.

Burry is starting to talk down again, but this time the numbers are truly shocking... $176 billion depreciation play? Honestly, financial fraud is something big companies are better at than anyone else, and the key is that no one dares to investigate. Although Tesla is overestimated, there are very few who dare to short it, as the risk is too high. Profit inflated by 26.9%... Is it really that outrageous? It feels like a big liquidation is coming. When will this guy's put options be validated to see if he's a true prophet or just hyping things up again?

Burry has started again. The depreciation figures look scary, but can they be trusted? Anyway, I'm just waiting to see 2028.

Burry is starting to rehash old news again. We've been hearing the depreciation argument for two years, and he's still talking about it.
