The contract, valued at R$ 1.7 million, marks a new phase in the federal government’s strategy to expand monitoring of operations in the crypto market.

According to the federal government’s contract portal, the PF acquired temporary rights to specialized cryptocurrency tracking software. The agreement includes the procurement of an Information and Communication Technology (TIC) solution based on blockchain, as detailed in the official description from the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP).

According to the terms of reference, the contract’s purpose is the purchase of 10 software units for locating, tracking, and analyzing cryptocurrency transactions, including hands-on knowledge transfer, technical support, and technological updates over a period of 36 months.

The tool should assist criminal investigations involving the use of cryptocurrencies, such as money laundering, digital frauds, and other financial crimes. The initiative is seen as a reinforcement of the PF’s technical capacity in light of the growing adoption of cryptocurrencies in Brazil.

The same service was also purchased by the National Public Security Secretariat, but with only one software unit, totaling R$ 170,000, according to the contract signed in October 2025.
