AtmosZero Secures $21 Million Series A to Scale Industrial Steam Decarbonization Technology
Industrial steam generation represents a significant environmental challenge: facilities across food production, chemical manufacturing, and district heating systems burn fossil fuels in boiler rooms that consume nearly eight percent of global primary energy. The resulting emissions exceed two gigatons of carbon dioxide annually. Now, AtmosZero is moving to reshape this landscape with an electrified alternative.
The company has completed a $21 million Series A funding round led by Engine Ventures and 2150, alongside investment from Constellation Technology Ventures—the venture arm of Constellation Energy Corporation (Nasdaq: CEG)—plus earlier backers including Energy Impact Partners, Starlight Ventures, and AENU.
Technology Meets Market Opportunity
At the core of AtmosZero’s approach sits Boiler 2.0, an electrified steam generator that extracts thermal energy from ambient air and delivers high-temperature steam without carbon emissions. Rather than requiring expensive, site-specific retrofits, the technology functions as a drop-in replacement for existing natural gas and oil boiler systems, allowing industrial customers to transition quickly and affordably.
“We’re solving industrial decarbonization by electrifying the boiler room with a scalable, standardized solution rather than building complex custom installations for each client,” explained Addison Stark, AtmosZero’s CEO and Co-Founder. “This investment represents strong validation of both our technology and our strategy for eliminating Scope 1 emissions from fossil-fueled boiler systems worldwide.”
Investor Conviction and Strategic Direction
Engine Ventures’ Michael Kearney emphasized the broader context: “Reaching net-zero emissions fundamentally requires replacing fossil-based industrial heat systems. Decarbonizing this sector isn’t merely an environmental priority—it’s increasingly a geopolitical one. We’re backing AtmosZero because their electrified, drop-in solution addresses this critical transition at scale.”
From 2150’s perspective, Partner and Co-Founder Christian Hernandez Gallardo highlighted the business case: “Industrial steam is indispensable across food and beverage production, district heating, and beyond. We identified AtmosZero’s offering as a financial no-brainer for customers—technology that unlocks massive environmental impact while making immediate economic sense. The team has delivered exactly that.”
Real-World Validation and Expansion
AtmosZero’s progress extends beyond funding. Last year, the company launched a full-scale pilot deployment with New Belgium Brewing Company at their flagship facility, demonstrating commercial viability. Simultaneously, AtmosZero established AtmosZero Europe, B.V., based in Amsterdam, to capture European market opportunities.
The new capital will fund two primary initiatives: executing the commercial pilot with New Belgium and accelerating European market penetration. Additionally, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Industrial Efficiency and Decarbonization Office awarded AtmosZero a $3.2 million grant to support rapid decarbonization of America’s industrial base—a recognition of the technology’s potential impact.
AtmosZero, a spin-out from Colorado State University headquartered in Fort Collins, Colorado, continues building the infrastructure for a decarbonized industrial future—transforming what was once viewed as a project into a standardized, commercially viable product.
