Recently, there has been significant attention in the crypto and security communities—Trust Wallet has been found to have a potential vulnerability that could put user assets at risk.
What is the core issue? The SlowMist security team has issued a clear warning: affected users must **disconnect from the internet before exporting their mnemonic phrase or transferring assets**. This is not a trivial matter. If you perform these operations while connected online, attackers could exploit specific vulnerabilities to steal the 12 or 24 words displayed on your screen—that is, your complete private key.
Imagine the consequences. Once your mnemonic phrase is leaked, your assets are exposed to attackers with no defenses. Routine operations like backups or transfers could inadvertently hand the keys over to hackers.
So, what should you do now? The security team recommends two essential steps:
**Step 1: Disconnect Immediately**
Turn off Wi-Fi and cellular data on your phone and computer to ensure your device is completely offline.
**Step 2: Perform Operations Offline**
Export your mnemonic phrase or transfer assets in an offline environment.
If you already have a backup of your mnemonic phrase, **prioritize transferring your assets to a secure temporary address** before considering updating your wallet app. The order is crucial—protect your assets first, then proceed with other operations gradually.
Ultimately, wallet security at this moment is not about complex passwords but whether you have taken the correct protective steps. The first line of defense for asset security is always your own awareness and decisive action.
Is your digital assets safe now? Check it out.
