Wintermute votes against AAVE brand control proposal: escalation of conflict is unnecessary, the core issue lies in value distribution
【Bitu】Wintermute founder Evgeny recently shared some thoughts on social media, sparking quite a bit of discussion. He admitted that AAVE constitutes a significant portion of Wintermute’s investment portfolio, and that neither he personally nor Wintermute as a whole holds any equity in Aave Labs.
Regarding the recently heated brand control vote, Evgeny’s analysis is quite interesting. He believes the core contradiction lies here—between Aave Labs and a large portion of AAVE holders, who have completely different understandings of “who should capture what value.” If this cognitive dissonance isn’t resolved, the long-term development of the token could be seriously affected.
However, he also pointed out that the current escalation of conflict is neither necessary nor constructive. “Deciding by vote before figuring out the specifics makes no sense,” he said. Moreover, the surrounding environment of this vote is filled with various political maneuvers. Stani’s communication indeed has issues, but the criticism from the other side is clearly excessive, directly impacting the token price. Such matters shouldn’t be pushed forward so hastily.
Therefore, Wintermute will vote against this proposal. However, Evgeny also expressed hope—that Aave Labs will take this issue seriously and carefully consider how to fundamentally resolve the long-term dilemma of token value distribution.
---
Basically, Labs wants to be the parent, token holders want to be the dad—it's a conflict between two generations that can't be resolved through voting.
---
They haven't even decided how to split the cake before they start arguing. This move really gives off a "start fighting first, figure it out later, since everything's going to be cut anyway" vibe.
---
It's hilarious. AAVE's weight in the Wintermute portfolio is so significant that now they have to pretend to analyze their holdings objectively—top-notch acting.
---
The current popular voting method is: I don't understand what you're talking about, but I oppose it. Vote first, discuss later—since everything can be overturned anyway.
---
The core issue is a misalignment of values: one wants to raise a golden goose, another wants to eat the golden goose eggs. In the end, the golden goose gets voted out, and there's no eggs to eat.
---
This internal conflict within AAVE is getting a bit intense. They started voting before sorting out their ideas, which is... somewhat unprofessional.
---
No consensus was reached before voting, so voting was pointless. Evgeny is right; the core problem is the misalignment in understanding of value distribution. Without resolving this, there will be more trouble ahead.
---
Yes, he sees things more clearly. Simply fighting for brand control is useless; the key is how token holders and Labs actually split the pie—that's the real issue.
---
Honestly, AAVE is getting a bit chaotic right now. Evgeny, as a major stakeholder, still has weight in his opinion, but the problem is far more than just the brand; the entire governance framework needs to be restructured.
Basically, it's just poor value distribution negotiation. A group of people shouting at each other over tokens, and the problem gets more and more complicated. Voting is done very quickly, but I've seen this script too many times.
Aave Labs wants control, token holders want profit rights, neither side is wrong, they just each say their own thing. Isn't this just the daily comedy in the crypto world?
