The CEO of a compliance platform's support for Ethereum has sparked controversy in the Bitcoin community: a philosophical battle between two major camps.

Source: TokenPost Original Title: Coinbase CEO “Ethereum has changed the flow of cryptocurrency”… BTC camp backlash Original Link: https://www.tokenpost.kr/news/cryptocurrency/308952 The highest operator of a compliant platform, Brian Armstrong, publicly praised Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, sparking strong opposition from Bitcoin maximalists. This controversy once again brought to the forefront the long-standing philosophical divide between the two camps.

Armstrong recently stated on social media, “Today marks the 12th anniversary of the Ethereum white paper,” and commented that “Ethereum has changed the direction of cryptocurrency development by introducing more development tools and Turing-complete languages.” He expressed his respect and congratulations to Buterin and the entire Ethereum community.

However, this statement was immediately refuted by Bitcoin supporters. Some users accused it of being “Ethereum is just a centralized pseudo-currency” and claimed that “centralization will ultimately lead to corruption, greed, and inflation.”

These responses once again expose the philosophical opposition between the Ethereum and Bitcoin camps over the years. In particular, the fundamental viewpoint difference of “centralization vs. decentralization” continues to spark controversy during the expansion of the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

The connection between the two has also drawn attention. Armstrong and Buterin first met at the Bitcoin conference held in San Jose in 2013. At that time, Buterin was a contributor to “Bitcoin Magazine,” while Armstrong had just founded the compliance platform. Armstrong was impressed by Buterin's articles and invited him to work at the San Francisco headquarters, but due to Buterin's U.S. work visa issues, the plan ultimately did not materialize. It was this turning point that prompted Buterin to return to Canada and create the Ethereum white paper.

The differences in the routes of the two parties were also reflected in later strategies. The compliance platform initially focused on Bitcoin trading, but in 2016 it launched Ethereum, shifting towards a practice of accepting different technological routes. This choice sparked controversy among Bitcoin central supporters and faced a lot of criticism at the time.

Today, Ethereum has become the second largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization and is at the core of smart contracts and decentralized finance ecosystems. In contrast, some Bitcoin supporters still insist that maintaining Bitcoin's “immutability and decentralization” identity is more important.

Armstrong's remarks are not just simple praise, but can also be understood as a signal that the compliant platform will continue to maintain balance across multiple blockchains in the future. The importance of diversification and flexibility in the technical roadmap may become increasingly prominent in the future cryptocurrency market.

nah, predictable vulnerability right there. every time someone praises turing-complete chains, maxies lose their minds like clockwork. i warned about this exact tribal warfare back in '21... architectural flaw in how we frame this whole thing, tbh.

BTC old coin fans express their dissatisfaction, these two factions will never stop arguing. ETH has indeed changed the game rules, but don't say BTC is useless, each has its own rationale. This is how the crypto world is, everyone wants to prove that they are the true revolution. Armstrong is going to get criticized, how could BTC fans possibly agree? Turing is indeed very strong, but in terms of decentralization, ETH really can't compare. The religious war between the two camps, looking down on each other has been going on for a long time. Honestly, I think both are needed; having to choose one over the other is too narrow-minded. The rebound in the BTC community is a bit excessive, why can't Armstrong express his views? Praising ETH while stepping on BTC, this trick is really old. By the way, this controversy won't produce any actual results, it's just a dispute of positions.

The split in the crypto world is really amazing, the BTC bros are still holding on, while ETH has already filled its ecosystem, right?

Here we go again, these BTC maximalists are really something, always ready to argue. Armstrong just speaks the truth and gets attacked, so it seems we can only praise Bitcoin? ETH has indeed changed things, and smart contracts are no longer a secret. Why are there still people who refuse to acknowledge it? Can't both be good? Why does it have to be one or the other? In my opinion, this philosophical battle is essentially a struggle for interests, so don’t wrap it up in such lofty terms.

The BTC big brother fans are crying out again. The Ethereum ecosystem has indeed changed the rules of the game. Isn't that a fact?

Here we go again, the Bitcoin believers are going to blow up again, haha I mean, Vitalik has indeed come up with some tricks, but to say it has changed the entire direction of the industry? Turing comes with its own costs, everyone has their own beliefs Armstrong's remarks are purely pouring oil on both sides, but to be fair, the ETH ecosystem is indeed thriving, there's no denying that The extremism of BTC is getting more and more serious, who knows, if this goes on, what difference is there from a religion Why must we choose sides? Isn't it good that both chains can exist? Does Armstrong not have a clue? Knowing it would stir up trouble and still say it, he is indeed a marketing genius It mainly comes down to ideological differences, unfortunately, this community cannot accommodate different voices

No matter how much Ethereum is praised, it cannot change the status of Bitcoin, and that is a fact.
