What is Quant (QNT)? The "worker" of cross-chain interoperability.

Have you ever wondered why different public chains ignore each other? Bitcoin and Ethereum operate independently, while Solana throws its own party, resulting in on-chain applications being limited to just one chain. This is the pain point that Quant Network aims to solve.

Core Selling Points of Quant

In simple terms, Quant is here to bridge the gap. It has launched a technology called Overledger, which aims to enable all blockchains to communicate with each other. Whether you are Layer 1, Layer 2, or a traditional financial system, you can connect and run applications through Overledger.

The architecture of Overledger is divided into four layers: transaction layer, messaging layer, filtering and sorting layer, and application layer. It's somewhat similar to the TCP/IP model of traditional networks, but applied on-chain.

Who will use Quant?

  • Enterprise: If you don't want to be “bound” to a certain chain, you can flexibly deploy applications on multiple chains.
  • Healthcare: Cross-chain storage and verification of medical data, enhancing security.
  • Government: Public data and private sector information interact more securely.
  • Developer: Can develop once and deploy on multiple chains (mApps)

How to Use QNT Token

Basic Information

  • Chain: Ethereum ERC-20
  • Total supply: approximately 14.61 million coins
  • Circulation: Approximately 14.54 million coins (fully released in 2019)

Purpose

  • Developers need to pay a QNT licensing fee to deploy applications on Overledger.
  • Maintaining applications and calling services require QNT.
  • Enterprise users pay platform fees and service fees
  • Ordinary users also need to use QNT to access mApps.

In simple terms, QNT is the “pass” within the Overledger ecosystem.

Is the team reliable?

CEO Gilbert Verdian: With 20 years of experience in cybersecurity for the UK government and financial systems, he is also the founder of the ISO blockchain standards (developed with participation from 40 countries worldwide).

CSO Paolo Tasca: Director of the Blockchain Centre at University College London, previously an economist at the Bank of England.

CTO Collin Patterson: Former Deutsche Bank, 20 years of experience in information security and AI.

These people indeed have backgrounds in government and finance, not just pure tech geeks, which actually gives them an advantage in doing cross-chain interoperability projects like this “infrastructure”.

Current Situation and Risks

Overledger has indeed some innovative points as a cross-chain technology, but there are also many competitors (such as Polkadot, Cosmos, Chainlink, etc.). It is worth noting that the project has not updated its roadmap since 2019.

Summary: Quant's logic is clear - using technology to solve the “information island” between chains. The tokenomics design also aligns with the characteristics of infrastructure projects. However, the success of such projects requires a large number of ecological applications to be integrated, which is a long-term test.
