Recently came across a new coin on Solana — $SUGAR. I originally thought it was just another memecoin under the banner of "Sugar Daddy" playing people for suckers, but after clicking in, I found that it has quite a "cultural" approach.

They are not the type of project that simply relies on avatars, dog heads, and shouting slogans to get started, but rather they want to repackage the term "Sugar Daddy" into a social cultural symbol that is a bit ironic, yet charming and unique. It sounds a bit like playing with social memes, but the implementation approach is serious.

For example, their recent monthly competition has no restrictions and no specific style; as long as you can come up with some creative content—pictures, videos, jokes, or even street graffiti—you have a chance to win a prize. The evaluation criteria are divided into "most creative" and "most popular," showing that they genuinely want the community to lead the expression of this project.

Interestingly, someone on Twitter created a retro suit sugar daddy meme, with the caption "The generous gentleman spirit is never a blatant money transaction." There are also people spray painting $SUGAR on walls, saying "This is an attitude." Compared to those meme projects that only shout "to the moon," this kind of project that tells jokes, plays with content, and creates labels is indeed memorable.

Of course, whether memecoins can last in the long run ultimately depends on whether the community has sustained creativity and narrative space. Whether $SUGAR can turn this "cultural filtering sense" into a moat remains to be seen. However, judging by the current density and sense of direction of community-generated content, it is indeed more serious than most meme projects.

Solana has no shortage of lively projects, but lacks those with a bit of "personality." $SUGAR aims to play the role of one that comes with an aesthetic filter, which is worth keeping an eye on.
