[Norwegian government plans to temporarily ban crypto mining] The Norwegian government announced on Friday that the country plans to temporarily prohibit the establishment of new data centers that use the most energy-intensive technologies for mining Crypto Assets, in order to save electricity for other industries. The Minister of Digitalization and Public Administration, Karianne Tung, stated that the Labour Party government intends to limit crypto mining activities in Norway as much as possible. Crypto mining consumes a lot of electricity, and the job opportunities and income it creates for local communities are minimal. The government indicated that this temporary ban could be implemented in the fall of 2025.
