According to Wu, the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission has initiated a consultation proposing to restrict the use of potentially misleading names by unregulated entities to enhance investor protection. In response to the rise of virtual asset trading platforms, the Commission suggests expanding the list of restricted terms under the Securities and Futures Ordinance, and will incorporate similar restrictions in the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Ordinance, covering terms such as "exchange", "trading platform", and "virtual assets", as well as names that imply association with existing entities. The public can submit feedback by August 11.
