Coinbase co-founder Ehrsam ventures into brain health, gathering former Neuralink talent to develop ultrasound headsets.

Coinbase co-founder Fred Ehrsam has become the latest Silicon Valley billionaire to plunge into the brain health industry, and its startup Nudge has hired at least eight employees who previously worked for Elon Musk’s Neuralink, according to data. Unlike Neuralink’s technology path of intra-brain chip implantation, Ehrsam’s Nudge aims to develop a consumer-grade headset that uses ultrasound technology to achieve the goal of “treating brain diseases, improving mood and helping sleep with one click”. Scientists point out that the company’s technical solutions and the science behind them are still controversial, but Ehrsam’s successful experience and deep pockets as the creator of one of the world’s largest crypto exchanges (the billionaire index shows it to be worth at least $3.2 billion) may make it a serious contender in this space.
