After a direct conversation between senior officials of China and the United States, China’s semiconductor and electronic design automation ( EDA ) strategy has undergone subtle changes.
According to feedback from several domestic IC design engineers and companies in China, the previously inaccessible technology support platforms “Solv Net Plus” from Synopsys and Cadence’s “Support Portal” due to U.S. export controls are now restored for access.
However, neither Synopsys nor Cadence has officially disclosed this change. It is currently unclear whether this restoration applies only to specific, lower-sensitivity Chinese clients, raising questions about the possibility of the U.S. easing technology restrictions on China.
