On May 22, it was reported that the launch ceremony for North Korea's newly constructed 5,000-ton-class destroyer took place at the Chongjin shipyard on the 21st local time. Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, attended the ceremony. A serious accident occurred during the launching process of the new destroyer. Kim Jong-un watched the entire process of the accident and criticized it as an intolerable major accident and criminal behavior caused by negligence and irresponsibility, as well as a disregard for the empirical nature of science. Kim Jong-un has instructed the establishment of an investigation team to look into the cause of the incident.
