According to Deep Tide TechFlow news on May 20, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission ( SEC ) announced on May 19, 2025, the appointment of Katherine Reilly as the acting Inspector General of the agency. Reilly previously served as the Deputy Inspector General of the SEC and will succeed Deborah Jeffrey, who has served as Inspector General since 2023 and is about to retire. Reilly has extensive legal and regulatory experience, having worked at the Federal Trade Commission, the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General, and the Department of Justice's Immigration Review Enforcement Office. SEC Chairman Paul Atkins stated that Reilly possesses the experience and expertise necessary to continue advancing oversight efforts and will be committed to promoting institutional transparency and operational efficiency.
