How to Bind Your Gate Account to Authenticator on Website
Google Authenticator and Gate Authenticator are the only two valid authenticators for Gate. Scan the QR code on your phone or search for them in your app store to download them. Open the app after installation. (Gate Authenticator in this tutorial as an example)There are three scenarios where you may want to disable Authenticator:
① “Click to Scan QR code”.
② “Reset your authenticator key”. Input your username and key.
(Note: To find the QR code and to copy the key, open the Gate website and click on the top-right profile icon. Go to “Security Settings” - “Two-factor Authentication” - “Immediate binding” - “Click here”.) Now you may scan the QR code or copy&paste the key to Google/Gate Authenticator.

How to Unbind Your Authenticator
There are two ways to unbind the authenticator:
1.If you can still receive Google/Gate authenticator codes, you can unbind your authenticator directly via [Web] or [App]: Go to “Security” settings or “Security Center” and follow the self-service instructions to remove the authenticator.
2.If you are unable to access the authenticator (e.g. lost phone, app deleted) and enter your Google/Gate verification code, you can request to unbind your authenticator using one of the following methods:
(1)Click here to open the Security Form, and follow the instructions to fill in the required information. After submission, your request will be reviewed and responded to within 1–3 working days.
(2) Submit a support ticket or email support@gate.com to submit your authenticator unbinding request. Be sure to describe the issue clearly and provide the following required details:
- Your Gate account username and user ID
- Your email address
- Your full name and city of registration
- Your recently traded crypto assets
- A photo of you (the account owner) holding your ID, along with a handwritten note that includes:
- Your Gate account name
- Date
- A statement explaining your request (e.g. “Request to unbind authenticator”)
- Your bound phone number
Notes:
- The authenticator is required for operations such as login, withdrawals, password changes, and updating security settings. If you often fail to receive SMS codes, we strongly recommend binding an authenticator instead.
- If you keep getting errors when entering your verification codes, sync your phone’s time with the correct network time to make sure the codes are accurate.
