Sina Tech News, April 2 Evening: After Meitu’s 2025 annual earnings release, Meitu’s Chief Product Officer Chen Jianyi spoke with the media. He revealed that Meitu is developing vertical AI productivity products through internal “startup teams,” which may be showcased at the Imaging Festival in June. “Compared to the more long-term stable Meitu lifestyle scene products, Meitu regards productivity scene products as the future growth engine.”

Building on existing productivity products, Meitu is adopting a “deep industry exploration + global expansion” strategy. According to Chen Jianyi, core productivity products like Meitu Design Studio and KaiPai have already covered industries such as e-commerce, insurance, and education and training. The company will increase resource investment to better meet industry needs, “for example, in e-commerce scenarios, we will optimize high-conversion material creation features and help sellers improve marketing effectiveness based on industry demands.”

Currently, Meitu is incubating vertical products internally. Chen Jianyi disclosed details: “Small teams of a few people focus on a specific niche demand. After initial validation shows long-term potential, the company will allocate more resources to scale up.” He also stated that Meitu’s stable imaging platform capabilities can help incubated teams avoid many pitfalls, resulting in higher success rates than external startups.

Regarding whether imaging can support numerous vertical products, Chen Jianyi responded affirmatively: “Just like Disney IP has no quantity limit, users’ imaging needs are endless. A vertical product that serves several million users and generates tens of millions in annual revenue is a successful product. The future trend will definitely be more specialized.”

Financial reports show that by 2025, Meitu’s monetization ability of productivity tools continued to strengthen. By the end of 2025, Meitu’s monthly active users in productivity scenarios reached 24 million, a 9.1% year-over-year increase; paid subscription users in productivity scenarios numbered 2.16 million, a 67.4% increase; subscription penetration reached 9%, with all data hitting record highs.
