Mars Finance News reported that on April 14, U.S. President Trump said locally on Monday that if an agreement to end the war is not reached before the ceasefire ends, “it won’t be a pleasant thing for them.” A reporter asked Trump whether his earlier threat that “the entire civilization will perish” still holds if the two-week ceasefire ends without an agreement. Trump replied, “I don’t want to comment on that, but it won’t be a pleasant thing for them.”

Trump last week announced his agreement with Iran on a two-week ceasefire, but peace talks between the two sides held in Pakistan over the weekend failed to make progress. The U.S. vice president said Iran would not commit to giving up nuclear weapons. Before the ceasefire, Trump also threatened to destroy Iran’s power plants and said that whether the two sides reach an agreement “doesn’t matter to me.”(Jin10)
