So I finally figured out how to change bank details for SRD and honestly, it's way easier than the permanent grant process. If you're on the Social Relief of Distress grant, you can actually do everything online through the official portal, which is kinda nice compared to having to trek to a SASSA office.

Basically, you go to the SRD website, find the banking details section, and they'll ask for your ID number. They send you a secure link via SMS to whatever number you have registered, and then you just enter your new bank account info. The whole thing is pretty straightforward, though it can take anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks for the bank to verify everything. Just make sure the account is actually in your name—they won't pay into joint accounts or anything like that.

One thing though: if you're also changing your phone number, do that separately through their contact details page. You'll need your ID and Application ID, enter the new number, and they'll send you an OTP to confirm. There's also a helpline at 0800 60 10 if you get stuck, but honestly the online process works pretty smoothly. Just don't use any sketchy third-party sites—stick to the official SASSA portal. A bunch of people have gotten scammed using fake websites claiming to help with this stuff, so be careful.
