Strait of Hormuz, latest news
Iranian Foreign Ministry: Ships from non-hostile countries, if not involved in or supporting aggression against Iran and strictly adhering to the announced safety and security regulations, may pass through the Strait of Hormuz after coordination
A document provided to reporters by the International Maritime Organization headquartered in London, UK, on the 24th shows that the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated in a statement forwarded to all IMO member states that ships from non-hostile countries, if not involved in or supporting aggression against Iran and strictly complying with the announced safety and security regulations, can enjoy safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz after coordination with Iranian authorities.
The statement emphasizes that ships, equipment, and assets belonging to the United States, Israel, and other parties involved in aggression do not enjoy innocent passage or non-hostile passage rights. Under the legal framework of armed conflict, such assets will be handled according to decisions and measures taken by the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The statement says that any arrangements, initiatives, or mechanisms related to maritime navigation safety and security in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman must fully respect the rights and legitimate interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran, conduct comprehensive coordination with Iranian authorities, and fully consider the actual situation caused by this aggression and current conflicts. The full restoration and sustainable stability of security in the Strait of Hormuz depend on the cessation of military aggression and threats, the end of destabilizing actions by the US and Israel, and the full respect for Iran’s legitimate interests.
Iran states that the United States and Israel openly violate the UN Charter and international law by carrying out military strikes against Iran, creating dangerous and destabilizing situations in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, and adversely affecting maritime navigation safety and security. To exercise its inherent right to self-defense, Iran has taken necessary and appropriate measures, in addition to targeting US military bases and facilities in the region, to prevent aggressors and their supporters from using the Strait of Hormuz to conduct hostile actions against Iran.
Iran launches four rounds of missile attacks in 40 minutes, proposes Middle East to establish a no-US-no-Israel alliance
On the 25th local time, according to Israeli sources, the Israeli military intercepted missiles launched by Iran toward central Israel.
It is reported that Iran launched four rounds of missiles toward Israel within 40 minutes. After the missile launches, air raid sirens sounded in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and other parts of central Israel. Israel is currently investigating to determine whether Iran used cluster munitions in the attack.
On March 25 local time, a spokesperson from Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Command called on Islamic countries, proposing the establishment of a “security and military alliance in the Middle East without the participation of the US and Israel.”
The spokesperson stated that the Middle East does not need a country thousands of kilometers away, which regards Islamic countries as “cash cows,” or a country that sacrifices others’ security for Israel’s safety. He also questioned countries with US military bases: “If Israel invades, will the Americans shoot for you?”
