After serving for 10 years, Lei Jun stepped down as Chairman of Kingsoft Cloud, with Acting CEO Zou Tao taking over.
On March 25, Kingsoft Cloud Holdings announced that Lei Jun has resigned from his roles as non-executive director, chairman of the Nomination Committee, and member of the Remuneration Committee due to other work commitments, effective March 25, 2026. Meanwhile, Vice Chairman Zou Tao will assume the roles of chairman and chairman of the Nomination Committee, and Qu Heng has been appointed as a non-executive director, member of the Nomination Committee, and member of the Remuneration Committee.
The announcement states that Zou Tao, aged 50, has served as a director of Kingsoft Cloud since December 2016 and has been acting CEO since August 2022. Zou Tao joined Kingsoft Software Limited in 1998 and has held multiple senior positions within Kingsoft Software Group.
Additionally, according to the announcement, Qu Heng, aged 44, is currently Vice President of Xiaomi Group and Chairman of the Group Technology Committee. He joined Xiaomi Group in 2010 and served as General Manager of Xiaomi’s Ecosystem Department from 2018 to 2023. From 2005 to 2010, he held roles as engineer, development manager, and project manager at Beijing Kingsoft Software Limited.
Public information shows that Kingsoft Cloud was founded in 2012. As a well-known cloud service provider in China, its business spans multiple countries and regions worldwide. In May 2020, Kingsoft Cloud was listed on NASDAQ in the United States; in December 2022, it completed a dual primary listing on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange through a listing by introduction. Lei Jun has served as a non-executive director since the founding of Kingsoft Cloud and has been chairman since 2015. Public data indicates that Kingsoft Cloud is one of the listed subsidiaries spun off from Kingsoft Software under Lei Jun’s leadership. Since its establishment, its development has been closely supported by Lei Jun and the Kingsoft ecosystem.
The Kingsoft ecosystem founded by Lei Jun includes three listed companies: Kingsoft Software, Kingsoft Office, and Kingsoft Cloud. Kingsoft Software was listed on the Hong Kong Main Board in 2007. Kingsoft Office was listed on the STAR Market of the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2019.
The financial report released on March 25 shows that Kingsoft Cloud’s revenue last year was 9.56 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 22.8%, and its net loss significantly narrowed from 1.98B yuan in 2024 to 943 million yuan. The announcement states that Lei Jun’s resignation will not have any material adverse effect on the group’s business operations or financial condition.
