Crypto News, according to CertiK monitoring, the Hyperbridge cross-chain gateway contract on Ethereum was exploited. The attacker successfully forged messages to tamper with the administrator rights of the Polkadot token contract, then minted 1 billion DOT and sold all of them, ultimately earning only about $237,000.

The profit amount is far below the minting scale because on-chain liquidity is extremely limited—massive sell pressure instantly drove the token price from $1.22 to nearly zero, making most of the newly minted tokens almost impossible to cash out.
This attack targeted the bridged version of DOT assets on Ethereum, not the Polkadot native chain itself. Currently, Hyperbridge and the Polkadot official have not issued an official response.
