ME News, on April 12 (UTC+8), American musician G.Love from Philadelphia stated that, while replacing his computer and reconfiguring his crypto wallet Ledger, he mistakenly downloaded a malicious counterfeit app from the Apple App Store, resulting in approximately 5.92 Bitcoins being fully transferred in a short time. On-chain investigator ZachXBT subsequently responded, saying that he has traced the flow of the stolen funds and that the related assets were transferred via CEX deposit addresses. ZachXBT also questioned the Apple App Store review mechanism, stating that the platform’s allowance of counterfeit apps being listed further amplifies the security risk to users’ assets.
