The first "Hualong One" nuclear power unit in the Yangtze River Delta region has successfully connected to the grid.

Yesterday (the 12th), the first “Hualong One” nuclear power unit in the Yangtze River Delta region — China General Nuclear Zhejiang Sanao Nuclear Power Project Unit 1 — successfully connected to the grid, marking that the unit officially has the capability to supply power to the grid. Ding Jing, Deputy General Manager of China General Nuclear Cangnan Nuclear Power, stated that after all six “Hualong One” nuclear power units are completed, the annual power generation capacity is expected to exceed 54 billion kilowatt-hours, close to the current total social electricity consumption of Wenzhou City, capable of meeting the annual electricity needs of over 5 million people for production and daily life, reducing coal consumption by over 16.35 million tons each year, and lowering carbon dioxide emissions by about 50 million tons.
