The Dutch Vehicle Authority announced on the 10th that Tesla’s supervised full self-driving system has been approved for use on public roads in the Netherlands. The Netherlands is the first European country to approve this system.
The Dutch Vehicle Authority stated in a release that the system has undergone more than a year and a half of comprehensive inspection and testing, and proper use of the system can help improve road safety.
However, this is only an advanced driver-assistance system, and the driver must always maintain control of the vehicle.
To ensure this, various sensors inside the vehicle monitor the driver’s behavior to guarantee that they can immediately take over the steering wheel if necessary.
If the driver remains inattentive, the system will automatically issue a warning signal and pause operation.
