Wang Wentao: During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China's per capita consumer GDP increased from $10k to $13k.

On March 6, at the press conference on the economy during the Fourth Session of the 14th National People’s Congress, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao said, “During the ‘14th Five-Year Plan’ period, our country’s per capita consumer GDP increased from $10,000 to $13,000, and residents’ consumption has shown a trend of change. Traditional consumption has shifted from the previous pattern of shortages to high-quality, green, and low-carbon consumption. Structurally, service consumption—especially experience-based consumption—has grown strongly. From 2022 to 2025, our country’s service retail sales saw an average annual growth of 10.4%.” (People’s Financial News)
