IT Home March 13 news: Apple today released an announcement about reducing its commission rate. According to communication with China’s regulatory authorities, effective March 15, 2026, the commission rates for iOS and iPadOS apps on the App Store in mainland China will be adjusted. The standard commission rate for Apple in-app purchases and paid apps will be lowered from the current 30% to 25%.

In response, Tencent’s “Goose Factory Blackboard” issued a statement:

We have noted that, under the strong push from regulatory authorities, Apple has adjusted its App Store commission policy for China, which has been inspiring to the industry.

This change reflects a response to and respect for the voices of Chinese users and the broad community of developers. It is a positive sign that will help promote healthy growth of the digital ecosystem. For Tencent and all developers, a more open, win-win platform environment is on the way, which will help unleash innovation and drive the continued prosperity of the technology application ecosystem. With this, we will, as always, work hand in hand with partners from all sides to provide users with better products and services.
