U.S. federal judge rules that the Trump administration's termination of immigration status actions is illegal

On March 31 local time, a U.S. federal judge ruled that the Trump administration’s practice of terminating the legal status of hundreds of thousands of immigrants was illegal and ordered the restoration of their immigration status. Alison Burroughs, a judge at the U.S. District Court in Massachusetts, pointed out that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security sent emails in April 2025 to immigrant groups entering through the “CBP One” app, informing them that they “should leave the United States,” a behavior that violated legal procedures. The number of affected immigrants was as high as approximately 900k. The judge ordered the government to revoke that decision and restore the temporary residence status previously granted to these immigrants under Biden administration policies. (CCTV News)
