IT Home reported on March 6 that ABC News published a blog today (March 6), interviewing Apple Hardware Engineering Senior Vice President John Ternus, discussing MacBook Neo, AI features, and Apple’s future.

IT Home has attached the related interview video below:

Assessment of the Apple MacBook Neo

For the Apple MacBook Neo, Ternus’s keywords were “solid, reliable, and durable.” Ternus revealed that the core reason this computer can significantly lower costs is that it is equipped with Apple’s in-house chip, which had previously been used exclusively for the iPhone.

In addition, the design team tailored four eye-catching color options for this product—blush pink, indigo blue, silver, and a brand-new citrus color—which also rekindled the public’s nostalgia for Apple’s classic colorful computers from the 1990s.

In terms of market positioning, Ternus said Apple foresaw an opportunity to use this chance to reach a broad user base. MacBook Neo is not only sturdy, reliable, and stable in operation, but it also fulfills consumers’ core expectations for the Mac with a highly attractive price.

Why is Apple only now launching an affordable Mac?

Regarding the question from the outside world of “why Apple is only now launching an affordable Mac,” Ternus gave a clear response. He explained that within Apple, extremely high product standards have always been maintained.

Only after the R&D team was certain that they could perfect the product and create a Mac that the entire team would be proud of did they ultimately decide to bring it to market. This absolute uncompromising pursuit of quality is the fundamental reason why the MacBook Neo, after long-term refinement, was finally released.

Apple pursues “invisible AI”

When talking about artificial intelligence (AI), Ternus elaborated in detail on Apple’s unique philosophy in this area. He pointed out that Apple Intelligence will continue to be integrated into Apple’s major product lines in the future, making users’ everyday operations more efficient and convenient.

The highest level Apple pursues is “invisible AI”—that is, if the technology is applied properly, users may not even intentionally notice the presence of AI, and they will use these new features more and more frequently simply because the experience is excellent.

At the end of the interview, an ABC reporter asked very directly about the rumors that Ternus will take over as Apple’s next Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

When facing this sensitive topic, Ternus responded cleverly, saying that he is currently very passionate about his existing work. He believes that being able to work with the world’s top teams—especially at the moment when many astonishing new products are launched—makes him feel that his current position is his most ideal destination.
