If the United States accepts the conditions set forth by Iran in this round of negotiations, it would be nothing less than surrender. Trump would become the most "dishonorably humiliated" president in American history. Just look at 8 out of the 10 conditions Iran has proposed:
1) Guarantee no further military actions;
2) Recognize Iran's ongoing control over the Strait of Hormuz;
3) Accept Iran's uranium enrichment activities;
4) Lift all primary and secondary sanctions;
5) Terminate all relevant resolutions by the UN Security Council and the International Atomic Energy Agency;
6) Pay compensation for damages caused to Iran;
7) U.S. combat troops withdraw from the region;
8) Cease all military operations on all fronts.
Honestly, the plan proposed by Iran is no different from direct surrender by the United States. It’s important to remember that the reason the U.S. attacked Iran was to ensure Iran could not develop nuclear weapons. Under Iran’s plan, not only would that goal be unattainable, but even the Strait of Hormuz would be handed over.
How would the families of U.S. soldiers killed in the conflict feel about this? If Trump ultimately agrees to this plan, even if he only agrees to some of the clauses, he will become the most "dishonorably humiliated" president in American history. Not only would his reputation be ruined, but his political career could also come to an end. Of course, Trump is unlikely to accept this plan. Currently, agreeing to a ceasefire may just be a superficial gesture or a delaying tactic.
