On April 6, the Japanese government proposed a plan to relax restrictions on arms exports at the Liberal Democratic Party’s Security Policy Investigation Meeting.
In response to this plan, there has been considerable criticism within Japan.
Hiroshi Shiratori, a professor at Hosei University, stated that Japan could become “a country that exports war” by exporting lethal weapons without parliamentary approval.
Additionally, some Japanese citizens questioned the “notify Parliament afterward” clause in the plan, saying, “Notify Parliament only after the fact? Then what’s the point of having Parliament? It’s completely the LDP doing whatever it wants.”
Other citizens expressed that “under the control of the LDP, Parliament is becoming increasingly powerless.” (CCTV International News)
